An unusual vintage necklace featuring a well-rendered snake’s head and tail in gilded metal and attractive enameling in blues and greens.
This necklace takes the form of a white metal snake chain with a spring ring clasp. It’s finished with a gilt metal snake’s head and tail rendered in great detail with scales and enamelled blue and green designs. The head of the snake is a copper tone and the tail is gold in tone. The chain itself is white metal.
Date: Circa 1930s
Hallmarks: No hallmarks or makers marks are apparent
Size: 17 inches in length, with a further 2.5 inch drop to the tip of the snake’s head.
Condition: Overall condition is good. There appears to be some re-enameling on the snake’s head, which in very close inspection is a little naive, but this doesn’t detract from the beauty and rarity of this piece.
